The Falklands Conflict 1982. As Britain began to attack the Argentinan forces on the Falkland Islands on many fronts, RAF Harrier GR3 jet aircraft of of 1(F) Squadron (embarked in HMS 'Hermes', and the only RAF Harrier unit deployed in the conflict) gave air cover over the west side of East Falkland Island. They destroyed an Argentinian anti-aircraft gun at Goose Green which had been turned on men of 2nd Battalion the Parachute Regiment. Goose Green was liberated.
