An allegorical figure of Peace or Victory stands on a two-stepped base surmounted by a plinth. The figure is dressed in chain mail and holds a reversed, sheathed sword in the air with her head cast downwards and shield at her side. The snake beneath the figure's feet alludes to the defeat of evil, in this case by force of arms (represented by the sword). The wreath is another signifier of Victory, while the lion on the female figure’s helmet and the two Tudor roses either side of the Stoke-on-Trent coat of arms symbolise the English nation. On two sides of the plinth are additional black stone tablets with incised inscription in gold lettering.
