A half-length study, seated, and facing front, of a middle aged, portly man with short blonde hair and long sideburns. He wears a dark coat with a large fur collar, and a white collar and cravat. It is reported that the sitter was possibly an attorney, and was Town Clerk for Nottingham from 1792–1815 and was accidentally killed on 17th September 1815 falling from his gig (from a letter in the collecion's files dated 9th June 1903).
