A large steel sculpture of a foot balancing on tiptoe. Cogwheels and chains appear from the top and are more visible from left-hand side of sculpture. Information from 'Cywaith Cymru, Artworks Wales Spring 2000' newsletter, by Bethan Roberts: 'Footplate was commissioned as part of a project by Flint County Council to make substantial improvements to the area surrounding the station. The sculpture site is clearly visible from the trains, station platform and car park, and by scores of cyclists when the National Cycle Network is completed in Flintshire. Due to the abundance of forms of transport related to the site, this was the theme chosen for the artist's brief. 'As a result of the national competition, Brian Fells design was chosen as the design incorporating the most basic form of transport – walking.
