The small paintings based upon depictions from Ovid’s 'Metamorphoses': Minerva and the Muses (Book VI); Pentheus attacked by Bacchus's worshippers (Book III); Cipus overlooking Latium from his exile (Book XV); the Muses turning the Pierides into birds (Book V); (Apollo) Midas judging the music contest between Apollo and Pan (Book XI); Medea and Daughters of Pellas (Book VIII); Ajax and Ulysses fight over Achilles' armour; Hecuba and the captured women seize the Thracian king (Book XIII).

The paintings were originally intended to decorate the panels of a Low Countries cabinet; they were found in a drawer in the House at Weston Park and were reframed as a cabinet frontal in circa 2005.
