The welded figures balance each other in a dynamic tension, each standing on one leg. They reach out and grasp one another's hands in a gesture of friendship, cooperation and trust. This can symbolise the union of Guy's and St Thomas working together as one institution as well as the nature of hospital and staff as caring, supportive and displaying mutual trust.
