Roding Riverside is an area of Barking undergoing significant regeneration with a focus on developing the cultural and artistic opportunities within the borough. Klassnik were commissioned to create a landmark structure to act as both a visual landmark and opportunity for creatives within the area to showcase their work. Referencing the maritime heritage of the area and the recent discovery of historic ice houses in excavations for the nearby Ice House Quarter, the structure includes a timber clinker boat alongside familiar local street furniture appearing to emerge from a 'melting’ faceted plinth. The design team behind the sculpture were Tomas Klassnik & Chloe Spiby Loh.

An integral display board provides a site for curated content from the local studios to be showcased, highlighting the varied outputs of the local creative community.
