Anne Parsons, the daughter of Alderman Humphrey Parsons, brewer and sometime Lord Mayor of London, married John Hynde Cotton, 4th Bt in 1754. They maintained a financial interest in the brewhouse in St Catherine’s, London, and inherited some of the Parsons silver. It was the fourth baronet who employed Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown to remodel the landscape of the Madinley Hall grounds in 1756.
