Three carved stone statues grace the colonnade. The surmounting figures at parapet level of Hygeia, Hippocrates, and Aesculapius, originally sculpted by Lucius Gahagan of Bath, are replacements, c.1980. Asclepius represents the healing aspect of the medical arts, Hygieia ('Hygiene', the goddess of cleanliness), and Hippocrates, the father of medicine.
