This is a portrait of master craftsman Walter Winterton who painted a series of heraldic guild banners for the York Pageant in 1909, which are now on display in the Hall.

The sitter is shown in profile, facing left wearing a brown suit, white shirt and red and blue striped tie. His hands are clasped together on his lap.
