Versatile painter, sculptor and photographer, born in Johannesburg, South Africa, who studied medicine at Witwatersrand University. He went on to practise as a psychoanalyst and psychiatrist, moving to Britain in 1952. As an artist his subjects included the Holy Land and its legends. His brother Frank was a painter. Rosen sculpted from childhood and was mainly self-taught as an artist, although from the early 1950s for short periods he attended the Académie Julian and L’École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, also the Regent Street Polytechnic. In 1959 he was elected a fellow of the SPS. Rosen participated in group exhibitions, including the RA Summer Exhibition and had solo shows in South Africa in the 1940s and 1950s. In Britain his one-man exhibitions included the John Whibley Gallery, 1972; Camden Arts Centre, 1974; and Nikon Gallery, 1982.
