Artist and designer who studied at Portsmouth College of Art and Design, graduating from St Martin’s College of Art. Richman was a former lighting designer using materials that channeled, reflected and refracted light. The recreation of childhood memory was a feature of his work. Group exhibitions included Richard Salmon Gallery and RIBA, both 1997; Abbot Hall Art Gallery, Kendal, 1999–00; and Psycodilia, Aeroplastics Gallery, Brussels, Belgium, 2001. Blooming Sand at Jesolo Lido was an installation during the Opening of the Venice Biennale. Among solo exhibitions were Priming Vision, Damasquine, Brussels, 1996; Lucent, Dominic Berning, 1999; and Come To Light, Rhodes + Mann with Dominic Berning, with tour, 2001–2. Richman’s commissions included 10 Millennium Beacons for Bristol City Centre, 1998; Permanent animated light sculpture for West Quay Shopping Centre, Southampton, 2000; and Permanent installation, London School of Economics, 2001.
