
Paul Richardson (b.1967)
Figurative sculptor in various materials, especially steel, born in Barking, Essex. Richardson did an art and design foundation course at Loughton College of Further Education, 1983–6, then obtained a fine art hon- ours degree at University of Central England, 1986–9. Among Richardson’s public commissions were the tightrope walker Blondin, for Ladywood Middleway, Birmingham, and Ahoy, a spaceship sculpture, a New Works Trust Commission, Midlands Arts Centre. Exhibitions included Food is Art, Café des Artistes, Custard Factory, Birmingham; Undercurrents, a Network Touring Exhibition; and 3F Studios Show, Leamington Spa Art College. In 1996 Richardson was given a solo exhibition at The Lawns, Christchurch Mansion, Ipswich, of his Reception steel figures, amusing depictions of real people, but larger than life.
