Painter and teacher, born in Newton Abbot, Devon. He was married to the artist Helene Halstuch. He attended Kingston College of Art, 1952–6; Royal College of Art, 1956–9, where his teachers included Ruskin Spear, Carel Weight and John Minton; and he was the winner of a British Institute Prize in 1955, Arts Council prize in 1959, and in that year the Prix de Rome in Painting. Was made a member of RWS in 1983; also showing from 1955 onwards at RA Summer Exhibition; at John Moores Liverpool Exhibitions, 1961–7; and was a Hunting Group Prize finalist, 1986–7. Took part in a three-man show at New Art Centre, 1962; two-man at Ben Uri Gallery, 1987; and four-man at Woodlands Art Gallery, 1989. Had a solo exhibition at New Art Centre, 1964. Taught at Central School of Art and Maidstone College of Art.
