Artist, born in Aberfeldy, Perthshire, who graduated with honours and a postgraduate diploma in painting from Edinburgh College of Art, 1982–7; she gained her master’s in fine art at Glasgow School of Art, 1995–7, being an exchange student at Hunter College, New York, America, 1996. Among studio residencies were Glasgow City of Culture, Vienna, Austria, 1990; Wurlitzer Foundation of New Mexico, 1998; and Scottish Arts Council, Amsterdam, Netherlands, 2000. McNab’s awards included Women’s Aid, Glasgow, 1995; Oppenheim-John Downes Trust and Hope Scott Trust, both 1998; and Hope Scott Trust and British Council Artists’ Grant, both 2001. Group shows included Sick Building, Globe Collective, Copenhagen, Denmark, 1996; Evolution Isn’t Over Yet, Fruitmarket Gallery, Edinburgh, 1999; and Le mois de la photo, Galerie La Centrale, Montreal, Canada, 2001.
