Artist in oil, watercolour and various graphic media, and teacher, born in Presteigne, Radnorshire. He attended Leicester College of Art. Became member of staff at Birmingham School of Art, 1925, in 1939 moving to Harrogate as principal, retiring in 1961. Moved to Bangor, Caernarvonshire, in 1970, in 1977 losing his sight. Was a member of the National Society for Art Education. Jenkins’ work comprised objective landscapes and work strongly influenced by Cubism, later pieces concentrating on sunlight, patterns and windows. Group shows included RA, City Art Gallery in Leeds and elsewhere widely in the north of England. Solo shows included Oriel Gallery, Bangor. His son was a potter, Christopher Jenkins.
