Primitive painter, born in Mousehole, Cornwall. He was the grandfather of the artist Jack Pender. Between the ages of 10 and 75 George was a fisherman, who retailed his exploits to Pender, who found them an inspiration. On retirement he took up painting, working on scraps of card and paper, producing many meticulous watercolours of Mousehole. George was promoted by the painter Alethea Garstin, who introduced him to the Passmore Edwards Art Gallery, Newlyn, and to other artists. His work was included in Artists from Cornwall, at RWA in 1992.
