Painter in abstract styles, colour and the theme of ribbons being important. Three teachers were key influences: Frances Richardson, Rudolph Pen and Kwok Wai Lau. Gardner was based at The Gallery, Portscatho, Cornwall, living in Flushing. Mixed shows included Purdue University, Lafayette, Indiana, America, 1966; Galleria d’Arte Sistina, Rome, Italy, 1972; American Artists in Britain, at Universities of Hull and Leeds, 1976; Neville-Sargent Gallery, Evanston, Illinois, 1984; and Hicks Gallery, 1995. Had a series of solo exhibitions at Drian Galleries from 1972, later ones including Falmouth Art Gallery, Falmouth, 1985, to which she offered to bequeath her extensive collection of contemporary Cornish artists’ works. Her own pictures were held by the Polish National Museum, Warsaw; National Gallery of Poland, Gdansk; American Embassy, Rome; and American corporate collections.
