Painter, printmaker and designer, born in Brno, Czechoslovakia. She studied at Kunstgewerbe Schule, Vienna, 1936–8, then Reimann School, London, 1938–9. After working as a radio intelligence officer in the Women’s Royal Naval Service in World War II Dekk began a career in graphic design. She worked for Central Office of Information, 1946–8; was a stage designer and illustrator in Cape Town, 1949; then between 1950–79 was in private practice in London, where she continued to live, clients including Air France, British Rail and London Transport. She illustrated several books. Was elected a fellow of the Society of Industrial Artists in 1956. Dekk returned to painting after a design career, having a fascination with back streets and their inhabitants, markets and ruins in Britain and abroad.
