Artist, designer and teacher, born in Cork, Ireland, who employed unorthodox materials such as cows’ udders and snakes in silver cases. She gained a bachelor’s degree at Leicester Polytechnic and her master’s degree in fine art from San Francisco Art Institute, California. Teaching and lecturing experience included Crawford School of Art, Cork; National College of Art and Design, Dublin; Waterford and Belfast Colleges of Art; Williams College, Massachusetts; Oberlin College, Ohio; and School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. In 1992 and 1994 handled set and costume designs for Opera Theatre Company for various Irish venues. From 1985–8 Cross was a committee member for the Irish Exhibition of Living Art, from 1992 a member of Aosdana.
