Artist and teacher, notably in glass, born in Glasgow, who gained a fine art honours degree at the School of Art there, 1980–4; her master’s at University of Ulster, Belfast, 1984–5; studied at International Glass Centre, Birmingham, 1995–6; and her master’s in glass, Royal College of Art, 1996–9. Awards included Solar Glass Scholarship, 1996–9, and Pilkington Scholarship, 1998–9; residencies Royal Edinburgh Hospital, 1990–1, and Millay Colony for the Arts, New York State, America, 1994. Lectured at Cheltenham and Gloucester College of Higher Education, 1992–9, then Edinburgh College of Art, and held a number of visiting lectureships. Exhibitions included Fruitmarket Open, Edinburgh, 1989; 21 Prints, Crawford Arts Centre, St Andrews, and tour, 1993; Detectable, Real Gallery, New York, 1998; and Pause, The Economist, 1999–00.
