Painter of figures, landscape and still life in a vigorous, Expressionist style. She studied at St John’s Wood School of Art, 1939, under Patrick Millard, and at Anglo-French Art Centre, 1945. Other teachers included Kenneth Martin, Ernest Perry and Alfred Green. After the war Bell continued to paint but also worked freelance for the Council of Industrial Design on textiles and as an interior designer for exhibitions. She also painted furniture, designed sets and advertisements for magazines and potted. Was a member of AIA, showed by invitation with RBA and LG and exhibited at Leicester Galleries, Young Contemporaries and in the provinces. Later solo shows included Duncalfe Galleries, Harrogate, 1989, and Chappel Galleries, Chappel, 1992. Chappel Galleries gave Bell a retrospective in 2003.
