Sculptor and teacher, married to the painter and potter Mick Arnup. From the age of five she wanted to sculpt, attending Kingston School of Art from 1943. Karel Vogel was an influence. From 1950–1 was at Camberwell School of Arts and Crafts, then for several years at Royal College of Art, where Frank Dobson and John Skeaping were important teachers. After marriage settled in Yorkshire and was head of sculpture at York Art School, 1958–72. Showed at RA, RSA, RBA, Paris Salon and John Davies Contemporary, Stow-on-the-Wold. Was made a fellow of RBS. Arnup’s speciality was bronzes of animals, created with the live animal in front of her, with great attention to detail. In 1971 she made and cast a silver leopard, presented to HM The Queen by City of York.
