Ulster University Art Collection was formally established in 1992 but has works dating from the early 1970s to present and is made up of work by alumni as well as past and present staff from the Faculty of Art and Design and Built Environment. Represented in the collection are many artists associated with the University who have already well-established national and international careers as well as those who are expected to achieve national and international recognition in years to come. Our collection of paintings include significant and early works by artists including David Crone, Elizabeth Magill, Rita Duffy, Mark Ainsworth, Ronnie Hughes, Mark McGreevy younger artists represented include Ema McKeown and Paul Morrison and Emma Connelly. Notable paintings include Rita Duffy’s 'The Legacy of the Boyne' located in the Vice Chancellor’s Office on the Coleraine Campus, Elizabeth Magill’s 'Two Shoes' at our Magee Campus, Derry and David Crone’s 'Garden Objects' at the Belfast Campus.

The University Collection is spread over our four campuses in Belfast, Jordownstown, Coleraine and Magee in Derry. Most works are displayed in publicly accessible areas however access to some works is restricted. Viewing of these works can be arranged by appointment with the Curator.
