The Norfolk Record Office, founded in 1963, provides a public archive service to the county of Norfolk. It has been based in The Archive Centre, next to County Hall, Norwich, since 2003.
The Norfolk Record Office collects and preserves unique archives relating to the history of Norfolk from the eleventh century onwards and makes them accessible to people in Norfolk and across the world. Consisting primarily of textual (written and spoken) records, they also include drawings and paintings with an archival context.
In 2005, the Norfolk Record Office’s entire archive collections were ‘Designated’ as being of outstanding national and international importance by the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council (MLA).
