Set adjacent to an Area of outstanding Natural Beauty and a Special Protection Area, the Museum stands high on Castle Hill in the centre of Clitheroe. The Castle dominates the area and was the location of a number of important battles of the Civil War. Clitheroe Castle Museum collection comprises collections of local artefacts, many of which are significant to the history and natural history of Clitheroe and its region. The geology collections are significant and relate to the important formations of the area. Combined with these collections are displays comprising of social history, costume, natural history, art, and archaeology.
