Most of the collection's paintings hang in Godworthy House but one painting is located at New Inn, an adjoining building, and is only accessible via very steep stairs.

Chard & District Museum and Heritage Centre is an independent charity without statutory state aid. It is the home of the John Stringfellow display and the James Gillingham collection. Both men were 19th century innovative leaders in aeronautics and artificial limbs respectively.
