Harold Sandys Williamson
1892–1978
Painter, designer and teacher, born in Leeds where he studied at the School of Art, 1911–14, and Royal Academy Schools, 1914–15. Became headmaster of Chelsea School of Art, 1930–58, where he employed among his teachers Henry Moore, Graham Sutherland, Ceri Richards and Claude Rogers; students during his time including Prunella Clough, Elisabeth Frink and Patrick Caulfield.
