More about

The University of Leicester was founded in the late 1950s, growing out of University College Leicester, which had opened in 1921. Portraits of its Chancellors, Vice-Chancellors, Chairmen of Council and Treasurers were commissioned and hung in its Council Chamber. Many of the recently commissioned portraits were painted by the esteemed artist Bryan Organ who lives in Leicestershire.
