Newark and Sherwood Museum Service holds an eclectic and rich collection of over 700 works of art, of which the oils form a small but significant section. These include works from national figures such as Vanessa Bell, Winifred Nicholson, Peter Oliver and Renatto Guttuso as well as local artists William Harold Cubley and Henry Harold Cubley. These works have been acquired in a variety of ways including donations and purchases with the assistance of grant aid bodies. Most of these works are housed at our purpose built store. Some have been displayed in our exciting temporary exhibitions programme at Newark Millgate Museum and The Gilstrap Centre.
