Susan Sloman is an independent historian specialising in British art of the eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. She is the author of numerous articles in scholarly journals and catalogues for commercial galleries and museums. Her publications include Gainsborough in Bath (Yale University Press 2002), Gainsborough's Landscapes (Philip Wilson Publishers 2011) and Gainsborough in London (Modern Art Press 2021). Her most recent article is 'The "infant" drawings of Sir Thomas Lawrence (1769–1830)', British Art Journal, XXI, No. 3, Winter 2020/21.
