Gill Clarke is a biographer and art historian. She has published widely on twentieth-century British art. She was Visiting Professor and Curator at the Otter Gallery, University of Chichester from 2012–2018 and guest curated at St Barbe Museum and Art Gallery, Lymington and in 2016 at Pallant House Gallery for the exhibition of the Bishop Otter Art Collection. Her books include Evelyn Dunbar: War and Country, Randolph Schwabe: A Life in Art, Shorelines: Artists on the South Coast, The Bishop Otter Art Collection: A Celebration, and most recently Conflicting Views: Pacifist Artists. Academic posts held include Southampton University from 1995–2010.
