Colin Cruise is Professor Emeritus (Art History) at Aberystwyth University and a freelance art curator, reviewer and writer. He has published widely on the history of drawing and on Victorian art, religion and literature, chiefly on Dante Gabriel Rossetti, Simeon Solomon and Ford Madox Brown. An essay surveying Burne-Jones’s drawings appears in the Tate's Burne-Jones exhibition catalogue (2018–2019) and another on Rossetti in the L. S. Lowry and the Pre-Raphaelites exhibition catalogue at the Lowry Gallery, Salford (2018–2019). He is working on an overview of Rossetti’s art, life and continued influence upon British art.
