Caroline Maclean's book Circles and Squares: The Lives and Art of the Hampstead Modernists (2020) chronicles the rise and fall of British Modernism in the 1930s, including Ben Nicholson, Barbara Hepworth, Henry Moore, Walter Gropius and Piet Mondrian. Her previous book was about the influence of Russian aesthetics on British modernism. She lives in London where she combines writing and teaching.
