Chelmsford Museum is housed in Oaklands House, a Grade II listed building designed by Charles Pertwee for Frederick Wells, a director of the Chelmsford Brewery, in the 1860s. It also served as a hospital before opening as a museum in 1930. Its Fine Art Collection includes works by artists with a strong local collection.
