Roubiliac was commissioned by Garrick to carve the marble specifically for the Temple. It was bequeathed to the British Museum by Garrick on his death, along with his books. In 2005 the marble was transferred to the British Library. This resin copy stands in Garrick's temple where the original was first placed.
