Sir William Lawrence (1783–1867) was Assistant Surgeon to St Bartholomew's Hospital, 1813–1825, Senior Surgeon, 1824–1865, and Consulting Surgeon, 1865–1867. He also lectured on surgery, and on general anatomy and physiology. Lawrence became Sergeant-Surgeon to Queen Victoria in 1858 and was made a baronet in 1867 at the end of his life.
