The memorial consists of a large freestanding granite obelisk surmounted on a square pedestal which features four larger carved scrolls surmounted by carved ball finials. The commemoration inscription and names of the fallen are on two cast bronze plaques which are set into either side of the pedestal. The obelisk is surrounded by a low-level sandstone wall and steps accessing the monument on either side. The monument stands on a raised mound in the centre of the park.
