A pedestal bears a life-size statue of an Ulster rifleman with a rifle and bayonet. Prior to having the sculpture mounted at Bushmills, Hartwell exhibited the bronze statue at the Royal Academy in London. A small memorial to Private Robert Quigg VC was added to the base of the memorial, following Quigg’s death in 1955.
