A tall obelisk upon a lidded square plinth which sits upon a three-tier base, the whole enclosed by a low wall surmounted by a metal fence. The seaward (south) face of the plinth presents a slate tablet bearing the general commemoration to those men of Penzance who gave their lives in the First World War. On the west and east faces slate tablets list the names of a total of 211 men who lost their lives in First World War, listed alphabetically, preceded just by their initials. No ranks, units or dates of death are listed. The landward (north) face of the plinth is adorned with a wreath of laurels, integral to the plinth.
