A hexagonal shrine with a domed roof and arches forming the walls. There are also two pillars and a free-standing Celtic cross of Sicilian Billiemi stone decorated with mosaic-work. The bronze plaques are framed in mosaic-work based on twelfth-century mosaics of Monreale.

The First World War plaques located within the structure, and the Second World War and post–1945 conflicts plaques are located outside the structure to the left and right. The builders were James Millar & Sons and Leonard Grandison & Son.
