A rough-hewn stone block base with dedications carved into the sides. A tapering shaft and Celtic wheel cross surmount the base, and there are Celtic knot work designs on the shaft of the cross. The brook valley was landscaped and planted as Coronation Gardens for the 1953 coronation. The memorial enclosure is separated from the gardens by metal railings and a gate, and protected from the road by low bollards carrying a chain.
