The ‘Virtual Reality’ series is housed in the patient waiting areas on the ground floor of the ACAD Centre, at Central Middlesex Hospital in the London Borough of Brent. Artist Paul Clements was commissioned by North West London Hospital Arts to use his artistic licence and sense of humour to bring the character of the rich multi-cultural community into the day surgery building. Paul worked closely with patients, visitors and staff, to make sure that ‘Virtual Reality’ referenced the special places in Brent. The artist took hundreds of photographs which expressed the atmosphere of the area. These photographs were exhibited in the hospital dining room and the Healthcare Community was invited to both comment and ultimately choose the images which were important to them.
