Lucien spent the summer of 1932 on the Welsh Marches first at Craven Arms, and from the end of July to the end of August, at Leintwardine, Herefordshire, staying at Trippleton Farm. He painted two views of the farm and began this more general view of the village. Although it appears unfinished, it is signed and dated.
