A steep hill rises from the right foreground of the picture and leads up into a group of small trees. There is a footpath which leads up the middle of the hill. At the top of the footpath are several figures; lower down, a man, and a woman holding a parasol begin to ascend. To the left of the footpath are two cows, one white, one brown, and on the other side of the path, on the right of the picture, there is another group of cattle. Behind the left slope of the hill, in the distance, can be seen Lenton Abbey. In the foreground on the left is a slope with a wooden handrail.
