Ivory embossed lace-paper of a design of lattice-work and flowers. An oval-shaped window at upper centre has a gauze blind through which is seen a pink embossed paper ornament of two birds sitting on a nest which is mounted on the other side. The window is framed with a collage of cut-paper ivory and silver fern fronds. At the centre is a large panel of rice-paper with a hand-painted scene of a bridge over a river with houses and a church on the left. The rice-paper panel is framed with gilt, embossed paper and mounted on paper springs to the lace-paper below so that it can be partially raised. Around the lower edge of the panel are gilt-embossed ornaments of putti and flowers, below which is a collage of cut-paper leaves and flowers. A message is printed in gold ink on a paper scroll at lower centre: 'I love thee dearly'.
