In this work Barlow has re-considered one of the most recognisable works of twentieth century sculpture, Marcel Duchamp's 'Bottle Rack' (1914), considered the first 'true' readymade in that it was not modified or changed by the artist. Barlow, however, has fabricated a significantly enlarged bottle rack, painted it, and placed it at an angle on a pallet. Barlow predominantly works with everyday materials and assembles them into large and brightly coloured sculptures.
