A man stands to left of centre. He has receding brown hair, a moustache which curls upwards and a pointed beard. He wears a blue tunic trimmed with yellow or gold, a large white ruff, pale green stockings with a pattern of crossed yellow lines, and blue shoes with gold buckles. He also wears a blue cape with a red lining, and a gold medallion hangs around his neck. In his left hand he holds a small magnifying glass or eye glass which is on a blue ribbon around his neck. In his right hand he holds a pale blue staff. A peacock stands beside him, to right.
