Tamson Blight (known locally as 'Tammy Blee') was the best remembered of the 'pellars' (witches) of West Cornwall. She performed only good deeds, notably the removal of curses of black witches and was credited with numerous cures. When she was on her death bed, people were carried to her on stretchers and lay beside her 'only to rise up and go down over the stairs perfectly cured'. Tammy's husband, driver of a mine engine, had similar occult powers and there was considerable rivalry between them.
