The Latin cross stands on a square plinth with a curved design at each corner. The plinth surmounts a three-stepped base, with the bottom step featuring a small column in each corner. These columns are surmounted by stone orbs. The dedication is written on the faces of the base. The memorial was rededicated in 1987. Henry Leonard Gauntlett Hill was personally affected by the Great War. On the 16th January 1917, his son, Captain Nicholas Weatherby Hill, M.C., aged 20, of the 2nd Battalion Oxford & Bucks Light Infantry, died in France and was buried there in the Courcelette British Cemetery.
